Which more or less brings us to the final part of last night's episode, in which Hank is essentially forced to spill the beans about Mia and the stolen novel to Karen, rather than have her find out about it on the news (or on Oprah, as was suggested by Mia's manager/boyfriend). After numerous affairs while working at the university, and appearances by 1980s music star Rick Springfield, Hank decides that it might be best to start fresh and plans to move to New York to be with Karen and Becca, while his best friend Runkle tries to reignite his marriage to Marcy despite their impending divorce. Series 3 began with Hank scoring a job at a local university and Runkle going back to work at a new talent agency run by Kathleen Turner (who I'm pretty sure was playing herself).

The series finishes with Karen taking a job in New York, but leaving Hank and Becca in LA in the interests of Becca's happiness. After discovering that he might be the father of another woman's baby, Hank splits from Karen and moves in with the music executive, who starts a relationship with the troublesome Mia - but after discovering he's not the father of the baby, he rekindles his relationship with Karen. umm, pleasuring himself in his office once too often. Series 2 picked up soon thereafter, with Hank landing in jail and being asked to write the biography of a music executive, while Runkle loses his job for.

The series ended with Mia claiming a book Hank wrote about their encounter as her own, and Karen ( Natasha McElhone) walking out of her wedding to be with Hank once again. Set in Los Angeles, Series 1 kicked off with Hank regretting the movie adaptation of his most recent novel, titled God Hates Us All (which, when you think about it, really should have tipped off the producers that they'd be in for trouble with religious groups), and shocked to find that a recent one-night stand had occurred with Mia, the 16-year-old daughter of his ex-wife's new partner. The third season of adult comedy show Californication finished last night (TV3, 9.30pm) with the return of Mia (played by Madeline Zima, the cute little girl from The Nanny) forcing Hank ( David "Fox" Duchovny) to confront his bad behaviour in episodes past.īefore we look at last night's episode, let's recap the story so far.
